Much of the interesting Low history came from Eliza Low Sauls' diaries and letters kept by her granddaughter Mrs. Marian McNulty Peterson of Lincoln, NE. Her diaries express her religious zeal, and the love of her father, including the heartbreak of his death in 1879 in Chicago. She married John Saul seven months after her fathers death. John and Eliza moved from the Lyonsville and Congregational Church from the Reformed Church of Irving Park in Chicago. They came to Superior, Nuckolls Co., NE about 1887.

OBITUARY - Eliza Low Saul 1935
Mrs. Saul Called Home After Long Useful Life - The death early Sunday of Mrs. Elizabeth Sul brought to a close another chapter of bouyant spirited pioneering such as made possible the development of the great America desert into a land of homes and fertile fields.

Mrs. Saul came to this locality forty-six years ago and she retained the keen-eyed alertness of the true pioneer up to the very end of her life. She never missed an opportunity to vote after the franchise was granted women. When parcel post was instituted, she made it a point to be among the first to utilize the new service.

Elizabeth Stewart Low was born of Scotch parents, James and Eason Will Low, March 30, 1846 in Chicago, Ill. She returned to her Maker Jan. 6, 1935 at her home near Superior, Nebr., aged 88 years and 9 months. She lived in and near Chicago until the spring of 1888 when with her family she moved to the farm near Superior, which place has ever since been her home. On Nov. 12, 1878 she was married to John Saul, who died in July, 1918.

She was the mother of five children: Mary McNulty who passed away in April, 1923; Laura and William at home; Hope Covington of Lodge Grass, Mont.; and Ralph of North Platte, Nebr. She also leaves a step daughter, Alice Saul of Kansas City, Mo., and ten grand children. She was reared in the Covenanter denomination and after moving to Nebraska joined the First Presbyterian Church of Superior of which she was a member for forty-six years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.A. Stockwell Tuesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them. If you find information at Ancestry with my name attached please search my website for current information, the databases posted at Ancestry contain inaccurate information. - Karen Rowe.
