In 1814, January 7 David and Sally Henry purchased 157.74 acres for the United States in Perry Township, Shelby Co., OH and then in Miami County on the bank of Mospuito Creek, Section 28 the SE 1/4. They were the first white settlers in Perry township and the parents of the first white twins. They also built the first log and the the first frame house. At the time of their location there was not a settler within 3 miles of their home. David Henry entered the land in 1814 where the Cedar Point Cemetery was laid out and finally platted in 1885, near Pasco in Perry Township.

On 07 JUL 1817 David Henry was sworn into office as clerk of Perry Township. He was elected Justice of the Peace 03 SEP 1817 and elected clerk of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners at Hardin, OH on 07 JUN 1819. David received his commission as Justice from Thomas Worthington, Governor of Ohio. Judge David Henry was appointed Director of the town of Sidney, December 1819. Also he was appointed by the court as director for the survey and sale of lots in the town of Sidney in 1820. In the year 1826 David Henry received a commission from Governor Jeremiah Morrow as Associate Judge for the Court of Common Pleas of Shelby County.
