Coonrod-Deegan Nuptials A beautiful, yet simple, home wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Coonrod in this city at 8:00 Wed. evening October 25, 1907, when their second daughter, Miss Bertha Alma, was given in marriage to Mr. Edward Earl Deegan, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Deegan of this place.

Prompt at eight Miss Lula Deegan, sister of the groom, began playing the wedding march and the officiating clergyman, J.A. McClellan, piloted the bridal party into the parlor where the ceremony was performed in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Mr. Walter Coonrod, brother of the bride, and Miss Cornelia Cossart acted as groomsman and bridesmaid. After congratulations a bountiful feast was served in the large dining room, where the gracious hospitality of the occasion was heartily enjoyed by all present. The house was artistically and beautifully decorated throughout with autumn leaves.

The bride and groom are two of our best known and respected young people and they begin their new life under the most auspicious circumstances and with the best wishes of all their acquantances. They will begin housekeeping at once on the groom's fathers farm one mile south of town. They received many useful and beautiful presents.

If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them.
