Pastor Daniel Schorr of rural Maxfield Lutheran Church initially conducted services for German Lutheran families in Waverly, Bremer Co., IA in 1867. St. Paul Lutheran Church was then organized in 1872 by Pastor Paul Bredow.

Charter Families: Boedecker, Mahnke, Maas, Friedemann, Koeberle, Seybold and Voight.
