St. John Lutheran Church of Buck Creek, Bremer Co., Iowa was organized in 1875 by Pastor Paul Bredow. The first pastor was the Reverend William Adix, born in Mecklenberg, Germany. The land for the church was donated by Louis Buhr, and the original signers of the church constitution were: Louis Buhr, Fred Poehler and G. Wolff.

Early Pastors: Paul Bredow, 1873-1875; William Adix, 1875-1897; Fred Schedtler, 1897-1913; Henry Adix, 1913-1926; J. Graening, 1926-1927; Herman Kuhlmann, 1927-1935; Gerhardt Kuhlmann, 1935-1945; Adolph Lechner, 1945-1949; Leo Widdel, 1949-1951.

Cemetery was platted in 1876.
