Crete - A township and post village, of Will county six miles east of the Illinois Central Railroad and four miles south of cut off. It's distance from Chicago is 32 miles. It contains four churches, viz.: Congregational Germany Lutheran, German Methodist, Methodist E.; also a chair and farming tools manufactory. Population of township 2,000. Postmaster, Gustavus Brauns.
