Friedrich Wilhelm Wilkening 1846-1911

Friedrich Wilhelm Wilkening was born 22 March 1846 and baptised in Niedernholz, Buckeburg. He attended school in Ludersfeld and was confirmed in Lintorf. (Lindhorst) At the age of about 23 years he came to America 7.Sept. 1868 at first to Desplaines, Cook Co., IL. In March of the following year he moved to Bremer County together with friends. He married Friedrike Platte on 24 Febr. 1877. This couple had three children. His craft was carpenter, later, for 20 years, he was farmer. Later he bought the farm he was living at. Here he also spent the evening of his life. He was also member of the Lutheran St.Pauls community since then. The deceased had been suffering for a long time from a bad hernia which caused a lot of trouble. His last suffering began as a bilious complaint from which also his wife died about for years before. Though it must have caused trouble for quite a time he complained not before thursday before his death. At monday morning he had to stay in bed. The doctor was called and the vicar as well. But his suffering became worse. At tuesday morning he had Holy Communion and soon afterwards he became unconscious and did not wake up any more. At wednesday morning about half past eight he died softly. He leaves his three children and many relatives and friends. His age was 65 years, 7 months and 9 days. He may rest in peace! If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them. If you find information at Ancestry with my name attached please search my website for current information, the databases posted at Ancestry contain inaccurate information. - Karen Rowe.
