We reported last week the death of Mr. Heinrich Schroeder in Maxfield. The burial took place on Thursday by vicar Kniefs. The following personal record was reported at that occasion.

Deceased Johann Heinrich Ludwig Schroeder was born on 24 January 1822 in Reinsdorf, Amt Rodenberg, Grafschaft Schaumburg, Germany and was baptised on 3 February the same year. He was confirmed in 1836 being 14 1/2 years old. On 1 November 1848 he married Engel Marie Sophie Dorothea Moeller. This matrimony God blessed with 4 children: 2 sons and 2 daughters. About 42 years ago he immigrated to this country together with his family and settled in Maxfield Twp. where he had been living since.

On 30 June 1880 God the Lord took away his life companion. So he married a second time on 11 June 1882 the widow Sophie Muehlse but she as well would procede to Eternity. She died on 3 January the same year after a short disease. He soon followed at Gods advice and will, and we embedded them side by side in the lap of the Earth. His end took place on the 5th of the month at about 11 oclock in the morning by a stroke of the heart at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Though his end had come fast it probably was not completely unexpected for him. No doubt the number of his years had reminded him of his lifes destiny, as well as the farewell of his wife. As before he held up to Gods word and sacrament. On the last Day of Holy Communion, the Sunday before Fasting/Lent, he was with the guests of Holy Communion, as he seldom missed a service. Even last Friday he attended the service and devoutedly heard the sermon of Christs passion, the benefit of it and how to use it rightly. Also at home and even shortly before his end he held up to Gods word and prayer. So we now hope that God wanted to save him from a long and painful bed of disease and wanted to take him quickly away from this vale of tears up into His Heaven, due to His mercy and for the sake of Christ, with whose comfort the Lord will brace and raise the hearts of all mourning people.
