It is unknown if Johann Friedrich Seegers of Hohnhorst #17 is the father of any of the persons in this commentary or that they are related to each other in some way other than the brothers noted below.

In searching the Hohnhorst churchbook baptism, confirmation, marriage and death records (to 1833) I find several possiblities but no references to Seegers in Hohnhorst #17.

Hohnhorst #11
There is a Johann Friedrich Seegers born 15 MAR 1795, son of Hans Heinrich Seegers (1750-1822) from Hohnhorst #11 and Anna Maria Gummer (1754-1822) from Hohnhorst #41 (married 13 FEB 1777 at Hohnhorst). There is no indication in the Hohnhorst records (to 1833) that any of this family immigrated.



Ultimately my quest is to find these Seegers immigrants from Hohnhorst #17 in America. Seegers family researchers, will you check your files for any of these persons?

Helsinghausen #11
A Johann Friedrich Ernst Seegers born 25 FEB 1817 at Bokeloh, Germany was confirmed at Hohnhorst in 1833 son of Ackermanns Johann Friedrich Seegers of Helsinghausen #11 and Engel Maria Dorothea Tatge from Riehe #5. Father Johann Friedrich Seegers was born 04 SEP 1787 at Bokeloh and died 04 MAR 1835 at Helsinghausen. Mother Engel nee Tatge was born 10 FEB 1793 and at Helsinghausen 23 JAN 1856. In reference to the Seegers of Helsinghausen I find a 26 JUL1878 marriage in the Godehardi Church of Beckedorf records of a Heinrich Dietrich Conrad Seegers born 04 NOV 1857 (at Suttorf?, Germany) to Caroline Friederike Sophia Wollert. He was the son of Friedrich Ernst Seegers and Dorothea Burueber (?) from Helsinghausen.

Hohnhorst #17
In searching my database for families with a reference to or living at Hohnhorst #17 I find a family of Johann Heinrich Nolte of Hohnhorst #17 and Catharina Elisabeth Engelking from Helsinghausen #6, married 28 APR 1772. Their firstborn son Johann Heinrich Nolte born 10 SEP 1773 at Hohnhorst #17 who married 10 DEC 1809 to a Engel Maria Seegers. She was born 04 OCT 1779 at Hohnhorst #11 and died 19 NOV 1841, the daughter of Hans Heinrich Seegers and Anna Maria Gummer. There are no Nolte-Seegers baptisms in the Hohnhorst records to 1833.

I also have information that a Harm Philipp Meyer from Nordbruch #2 who married (about 1868) an Engel Maria Seegers who was from Hohnhorst #17 (no other information). Sidenote: There are Meyer families from Nordbruch #2 that immigrated to America/Bremer Co., IA Meyer-Blume.

I find a Hans Harm Mensching (ca 1753-1821) and Catharina Engel Maria Busse (ca 1753-1819) that lived at Hohnhorst #39 until they died, but they had 2 daughters that were born at Hohnhorst #17, Catharina Engel (1786) and Sophia Dorothea (1789). There are no marriages of these daughters are found in the Hohnhorst records to 1833.
