Hermann Johann Ehlers wurde geboren am 19.Januar 1839 in Jardinghausen, Kreis Syke.

Er verheiratete sich mit Sophia Voigts im Jahre 1864. Aus der Ehe entsprosz eine Tochter, Frau Dora Renzelmann, die auch Kindespflicht an dem Verstorbenen ausgeuebt hat bis zum letzten Augenblick. Im Jahre 1892 kame sie nach Amerika, und im Jahre 1905 am 13.Juli entschlief die treue Gattin.

Er war fuer eine Reihe von Jahren Glied der ersten ev. luth. Gemeinde zu North Branch, seit er in Syracuse war ist er wohl dann and wann zur Kirche bekommen aber hat sich nicht gliedlich angeschlossen.

Es ueberleben ihn seine einzige Tochter, Frau Renzelmann, sieben Enkel: Dora, Anna, Mathilde, Fritz, Harry, August und Emma Renzelmann, und ein Urenkelchen.

Bei einem Besuche von Pastor Mueller kurz vor dem Dahinscheiden bekannte er sich im Glauben zum Auferstandenen. Sein Leben brachte er auf 72 Jahre, 11 Monate un 6 Tage denn er entschlief am 25.Dezember 1911 morgens um 4 Uhr.

Moege er im Glauben und durch Glauben zum Schauen eingegangen sein.
