Frederick William Hecht as born in Cook County, Ill., on March 1, 1857, the son of Mt. and Mrs. Henry Hecht. In this locality he received his early training, was baptized and confirmed in the church of Jesus Christ. In 1871, he left the home of his youth and with his parents moved to a farm north of Seneca, Kansas. In 1883 he was joined in the bonds of holy wedlock to Mary Moses and this happy couple made their home on the farm now occupied by his son, Emil. Here three children came to bless their home. Emil and Edwin, the latter proceeding his father in death in 1915, and one daughter, Lillie Bredemeier. In March 1916 he retired as an active farmer and with his faithful wife, moved to DuBois where he was privileged to spend twelve years in quiet and retirement.

On November 20th Mr. Hecht was taken seriously ill and after one day's suffering, he was removed to the Pawnee City Hospital, where his condition gradually grew worse and Saturday evening about 6:00, he was permitted by his Maker, to depart from the suffering of this life and enter into the life beyond at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 23 days. Besides his wife and children he is survived by four brothers, Herman of Gravatte, Ark.; Conrad of Wyoming; August of Hiawatha; and Gustav of DuBois. His two sisters and four brothers have passed on before him. Also, six grandchildren. To his wife he was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children, a peaceable and quiet neighbor and friend, besides an unbent and zealous church worker. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the home and the Friedens Evangelical Church, Rev. Otto Krueger in charge. Internment in the German Cemetery. ---DuBois Press

Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them.
