OBITUARY
Lydia Thomas, Ohiowa Native Dies at Nampa.

Through the kindness of Mrs. Floyd (Alma) Laurence, we have the obituary of her mother, Mrs. Lydia Thomas of Nampa, ID. Mrs. Thomas was a native of Ohiowa. Those knowing her were saddened at her passing. Some corresponded with her before her sight failed her. She lived with her daughter Alma until her last years when she was cared for in a Nampa home. The obituary follows:

Services for Mrs. Lydia Thomas, 85, of 1012 Eleventh Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho, who died Thursday, March 5, 1970, in a Nampa nursing home after a long illness, were conducted March 10 at Alsip Funeral Chapel by Revs. Edward E. Dixon, pastor of the Franklin Community Presbyterian church and Ralph Fothergill, pastor of the Meridian United Methodist church. Interment was at Meridian.

Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 29, 1885, at Ohiowa, NE, and was reared in Nebraska. She was married to Fred W. Thomas June 5, 1902 at Ohiowa. They moved to Meridian in September 1919 and resided there until moving to Eagle Heights in 1945. They moved to Nampa in 1955. Mr. Thomas died Dec. 13, 1956. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Nampa First United Methodist church and a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Alma A.) Laurence of Nampa; a brother, Reinhard G. Buchmeier of Geneva, NE; a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Buchmeier, deceased. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Mrs. Peter (Anna) Thomas, Mrs. Matilda Schweer and Mrs. Mollie Bahe; and a brother, Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas farmed until locating in Ohiowa, when Fred was in the Blacksmith business for a time...

If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them. If you find information at Ancestry with my name attached please search my website for current information, the databases posted at Ancestry contain inaccurate information. - Karen Rowe.
