Ev. Lutheran Church at Lindhorst
St. Dionysius Church of Lindhorst, built around 1180.

In the year 1150 AC the present village of Lindhorst was named Lindhoste, later also called Linthorst and Lynthorst meaning a "thicket with limes" .

The village of Luedersfeld was served by the Lindhorst parish until 1961, now it belongs to the parish of Probsthagen. Ludersfeld also has a "Kapelle" or a "daughter" of the Lindhorst church, since before the year 1502 called St. Johanni. It is said that the Kapelle was founded by two "Jungfrauen von Saldern and von Halle" (young unmarried women from Soldorf? and from Halle) and the school teacher holds "Betstunden" (prayers) every sunday since 1724.

Hulsebrink is in the middle of the village of Luedersfeld, on the east side of the river, on the road called Am Hulsebrink which connects Luedersfeld to the north end of Vornhagen and leads in the direction of Lindhorst. This is where the Brinksitzers lived. There were no farms here, but craftsmen of various trades.

A daughter village of the parish of Lindhorst, Cobbensen in the year 1220 was called Cobbenhusen, and in the year 1341 Kobbensen. This comes from the personal name Cobbo which is a short form of Godabert (germanic goda=gut=good). (Godabert's house.)

Information thanks to Kurt Riebe.

If you have come to my website via Ancestry: Several years ago the genealogy giant Ancestry absorbed the genealogy websites of Rootsweb along with personal databases posted at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project that included a large database of my own family information. I started using Rootsweb in 2000 and they gave us the capability to add, remove, and update our information at anytime and I used these options frequently to post correct and current data. Presently (2006) I am told by Ancestry that we cannot maintain our own databases, we cannot even remove them. If you find information at Ancestry with my name attached please search my website for current information, the databases posted at Ancestry contain inaccurate information. - Karen Rowe.
